Our commitment to missions reaches out beyond our local and national concerns to the needs of the world. Some activities include:
- Supporting a United Methodist missionary couple in the Congo, Drs. Jeffrey & Ellen Hoovers - teachers at the University and Seminary levels.
- For the last several years, BUMC has supported Sue Porter, a health missionary through the Board of Global Ministries who felt a call toward missionary service while he was there). After serving for 4 years in Central Asia, Sue has spent the last two years in Ganta, Liberia where she has been teaching nursing students, administering the nursing program, and helping out with the hospital at t he Mission compound in Ganta.
- A Benefit Concert for Haiti Relief in the winter of 2010
- Providing books and scholarships to Africa University.
- Supporting the Bishop's appeal for food aid in Zimbabwe.
- Committing to support a microcredit program for an AIDS initiative through Opportunity International.
