Hunger & Feeding Ministries

One of the ways that BUMC regularly helps our neighbors in need is through our Hunger and Feeding Ministries.  There are three ways you can lend a hand:

Food Drive for Bethesda Help

Drop off non-perishable food for Bethesda Help on the first Sunday of each month (and also on the following day, Monday from 8:30-10:00 am).  Additional food drives are held on other select days throughout the year including at our Thanks & Giving Sunday in November.  For more info about the types of food needed, please click here.

McKenna's Wagon

Once a month (the Monday after the first Sunday of the month) BUMC collects individually wrapped sandwiches and baggies of trail mix for McKenna's Wagon to distribute to people in need in DC.

NOTE: Following the Jif peanut butter recall issued by the CDC, Martha’s Table will not accept peanut butter sandwiches for McKenna’s Wagon until further notice. Please provide meat and cheese sandwiches instead.

Our collection takes place in the Huntington Pkwy lot from 8:30 - 10:00 am on the designated Monday. All types of sandwiches and trail mix are welcome. Just be sure to package items in a plastic or paper bag with the type and quantity marked.  For more information, contact Nancy or Bruce Smith.

Little Free Pantry

BUMC's Little Free Pantry sits along Huntington Pkwy and is always available for those in need to take some food or other needed items.  For more info about this ministry and the types of donations we collect, please click here.
